There’s been some criticism with the lack of oversight in homeschooling, with the recent news of the California couple who imprisoned and tortured their 13 kids. People say they probably wouldn’t have been able to get away with it for so long if there had been more oversight with homeschooling because they (supposedly) homeschooled their kids. Or at least, they made it seem like they did, setting up their home as a private school and everything to avoid suspicions.
What are your views on this? Should there be more oversight? Would less kids slip through the cracks that way or would horrible “parents” like that couple be able to find another way to avoid detection?
